1. Data we collect

Account data: name, email address, password (encrypted), date of birth, gender, city and country.
Profile data: photos, description, interests, search preferences.
Usage data: logins, messages exchanged, profiles viewed, device and browser used.
Approximate location data: inferred from your city or your IP address, in order to suggest nearby profiles to you.
Payment data: processed by our payment providers. We never retain your full card number.

2. Why we use it

to create and manage your account, and to enable matches;
to ensure the security of the service, prevent fraud and moderate content;
to send you notifications and emails relating to the service;
to improve the service and measure its usage;
to comply with our legal obligations.

3. Legal basis

Depending on the case: performance of the contract between us, your consent (notifications, non-essential cookies), our legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, service improvement) or compliance with a legal obligation.

4. How long

Your data is retained for the duration of your account, and is then deleted or anonymised. Certain data may be retained for longer where the law so requires (accounting, tax obligations, fraud prevention).

5. Who has access to it

Your data is never sold. It may be transmitted to service providers acting on our behalf (hosting, email delivery, payment, audience analytics) which are bound by contract to protect it. It may also be disclosed to an authority where the law so requires.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures: encrypted passwords, secure connections, restricted access to data, regular backups. As no system is infallible, we invite you to choose a strong password and never to disclose it.

9. Minors

Smakoo is reserved for persons of legal age. We do not knowingly collect data concerning minors. If we find that an account belongs to a minor, it is closed and the data deleted.
